Liberation
Liberate from oppression, racism, and hatred. In the midst of struggle and adversity the woman in this depiction is strong and defiant. She is spray painting on the wall. She is finding purpose and peace after calamity. On the wall, is a photo of Breonna Taylor. Breonna Taylor, a medical worker, who was shot and killed in a raid by three Louisville Metro Policemen on March 13, 2020. The killing led to many protests across the nation in support of fighting against police brutality and racism.

Men in Black
The title of this work is called “Men in Black”. Several men dressed in black suits are crossing the road. As they are crossing the road they are reflecting on the past, present, and future. I stand on my ancestors shoulders and to whom much is given is to be proved. As we reflect on our past and how far we have come, there is more to be done. In this depiction Dick Claxton Gregory represents the past. Dick Gregory was a comedian, civil rights activist, and business owner.

A Woman in the Mirror
A young girl stands at a mirror gazing into the mirror. She is confident, determined, and courageous. On the other side of the mirror is a woman looking back at her. The mirror is a representation of the future of the woman becoming.

Realize Your Dream
The “I Have a Dream” speech is one of the most famous speeches and one of the largest demonstrations in the world. This iconic image is well known and has been displayed in several parts of the world. I intended to create a painting and communicate a message of influence and togetherness graphically. Through the use of signage I wanted to create an experience that would connect people to a certain place in time, space and history.
